I’m soon going to earn the tag Nana on G+ for the stories I tell, but I always have an interpretation of a photo that I’d like to share… so bear with me folks.

This is among the last pics I took of my mum before leaving the country. I can go back and take some more I know, but that’ll probably take a few months.

Like most kids I never realized her value while growing up. I’ve lashed out and been terribly inconsiderate when all she wanted was a little kindness. It took a few months of being away from her for me to realize what a source of strength and inspiration she is to me. She has worked and supported her family since the age of 15 despite 7 major surgeries, she made sure that every Christmas and birthday was memorable, she made sure we were educated well, she loves us, but thankfully never hesitated to correct us and that’s what made three of us (I have 2 siblings) the strong, independent women we are today.

Every #WomenWednesday I want to tell the world about what a fantastic mom I’ve been blessed with, but time just went by. I’m glad it’s not too late for me.

Dolly Parton sang a number which describes her so well….

“She’s a sparrow when she’s broken, but she’s an eagle when she flies”

Thank you ma. For the strong, sensitive, wonderful woman you are!

  1. I will never tire of your stories or your tributes! This is a marvelous and joyful picture of your mother and we can see her goodness in her smile. Just like you! ♥

  2. I think lashing out is necessary so that you can create that space you need to grow independently. I think that independence and separation is what fosters the appreciation and realization for how wonderful moms really are. I love this. 🙂
