Spent a little while reading up on both cameras you mentioned. Looks like it’s pretty neck to neck even on all the review sites I’ve been too, but although Fuji does trump the Nikon on the following points.

1) More zoom

2) Slightly larger wide angle 24mm vs 25mm

3) Viewfinder present (will help you save battery instead of using your LCD screen to compose images all the time)

4) Slightly cheaper.

The Nikon has plusses on the following points.

1) Better Image stabilization – done in lens, making your pics less blurry.

2) Higher resolution screen, so you know for sure if you got the shot or not.

3) Smaller size

4) Thinner and lighter as well

5) The best part though is the macro capability. The Nikon permits you to focus at 1cm distance. If you find yourself interested in shooting insects, flowers and really small subjects, this comes in really handy.

I’ve seen more votes for Nikon than for Fuji. Being a Nikon users myself I can vouch for the quality of Nikon. I haven’t had the chance to try either camera, so I’m going completely on tech specs and owner reviews.

Like the cliché goes though, it’s not what’s in the camera that makes the photo… it’s the brilliance behind it that matters 😀
