Assignment 2: 1/2
Dynamic Range: High Energy
Shaking off the drops
I challenged myself to use the same subject in two totally different moods. The onion bloom that gave me soothing, now comes in mode – High energy.
The magic a little rain can work!

This is wonderful. Quite fabulous Lucille Galleli
I love the burst, the sense of a flowery explosion! Because of the subject, the muted colors, the round shapes and symmetrical composition, I’d call this more of a balanced image — not a “do I really dare post this?” 🙂
I love the color and the sense of energy from this one.
Thanks a bunch, Byron Sheldrick and Cathy Custer Donohoue 😀
Thank you Alex Lapidus..
I had a feeling I didn’t push the boundary much with this. Let me know if I could resubmit this one, or just post another in the comments 🙂 sorry to give you double work.
Up to you. I’m not generally in favor of removing anything from the community, since we’re all here to learn from each other, and everything helps. I don’t intend to slap, just…play on!
To me it feels like gentle energy, Lucille. The ME effect is very unique.
I love the way you developed your energy in this image – it’s very controlled and beautiful.
This is so gentle!! I love it.
Pretty image. The colors make it feel soft and calm.
I love this gentleness ! A very soft and delicate work, Lucille!
Alex Lapidus … don’t worry at all. Wrist slapping has moulded me into who I am now 🙂
Will try not to delete any more pics. This image stays, and yeah, I haven’t been pushing the envelope enough. Will have a go at it again.
Thanks a bunch Margrit Schwarz. Now that you mention it, the fading buds do give it a slightly softer look than I intended. Time for the drawing board!
Thanks a bunch Mary Wardell. Was pleasantly surprised with how it turned out. 🙂
Thanks much, Sonali Dalal…
Thank you Karen Migliaccio. Appreciate it 🙂
Thanks a ton, Françoise Dhulesia… glad you commented as well. More votes in favour of it being soft and soothing as compared to the energy burst I was going for.
Re-editing time 😀
A big Thank you to Alex Lapidus for not letting me get off easily. Thanks also to Margrit Schwarz and the others who felt this was more soothing than dynamic.
This is what I’d call an “in your face” version of the same image. Hope it conveys what I was aiming for. Lot more saturation + clarity and dehaze added to the part surrounding the flower.
Alex Lapidus… Hope I’m not breaking any rules by posting it in the comments (just wanted to keep the before/after linked)

Lucille Galleli Love it! It is definitely more dynamic!
Stunning choice of subjects with boldness and softness all at the same time. Lucille Galleli
I feel a refrained energy as if this flower and the surrounding buds want to burst!! You are on the edge, just waiting to go boom!!! I bet you are one crazy, fun lady Lucille Galleli!! Woohoo!! 😀
While the pink color may seem soothing, it’s bursting action definitely gives out high energy, beautiful creation! Lucille Galleli
Thanks a bunch, Françoise Dhulesia Stephanie Cassiday-Krueger and Beena R
Carmen Mandich …. when would you like to test the waters?
hee hee … thanks much!
Lucille Galleli Definitely!! 😊
