Plus Post Week 1: What Street Photography means to Me
While shooting I always find the “whys” lose to the “hows”, which is what made this week so important to me. Thinking about why I’m shooting what I shoot and what I’d like to present to the world and reading through the various interpretations presented here, made me realise that Street photography is a lot more personal and a lot more journalistic that I first thought. With each click we record history, we immortalise an emotion, we open the page to a new story.
I haven’t heard of many of the artists shared here during the week. I’m glad that this research made me familiar with different styles of street and also served to remove some of the “preconceived notions” I had of how street should be shot or the style. From monochrome to abstract colourful images. From contrasts to blurs. There is no limit to how street can be perceived, shot and presented.….. Yes, I’m still taking most of it in.
Week 1 check. Can’t wait to get shooting!
An oldie that I reprocessed after the term “freeze the moment” stuck in my head! Popped into a bar to witness this scene.

So much to agree with there. Thanks Lucille Galleli
Great PP, Lucille and I like how you seem to have found lots of ways to feel free shooting street: that is wonderful!
I do like the moment you captured here, the colours are inviting, everything is ready for us to enjoy your vision of street!
Thanks much, Jenn Camforth 😀
Thanks a bunch, Françoise Dhulesia… love your encouraging, honest comments. So glad to have you cheering us on 😀 Big hugs.
Lucille Galleli 🙂
Wonderful scene Lucille, shop windows are a significant branch of my street. I think before the course is done, you will see an art in street too. Have a great time shooting. It is all about simplicity this week.
Lucille Galleli A great read Lucille. I do love how our personal filters make it such a unique experience for everyone here. Nice touch with the wine being poured into the glass. A decisive moment! Thanks for sharing.
Cheers to your colourful image! Good to hear you are taking it all in. I think that is what we are all here for. Street shooting can be very diverse, using your imagination of the shot you are hunting. Enjoy your journey.
Thanks Angelo Gifford. I’ve seen quite a few shots of yours around this subject. Love them. Glad you enjoyed this image 😀
