Hey guys

Hey guys,

how are you taking the G+ news?

Anyone testing other services?

I’ve spent the last few days creating profiles on various sites and honestly, I just wish that none of us had to go through this rigmarole of testing, relearning, rebuilding everything.

– Do you believe that getting in touch with Google will make a difference?

– Do you think making a big roar will make Google or other providers listen?

Personally, I do.

Any suggestion on how we can go about it?

6 degrees of separation… how do we find the influencers?

  1. There’s this little place called Facebook, seems to be catching on. Like many people, I wanted G+ to work, but it seems like Google never really used the full potential of the place.

  2. Bob Harbison … thanks much. Have been on FB for several years, but the interactions here are far superior. Moreover the communities and the quality of photography way outweighs anything that FB can offer.

I’ve seen quite a few people over on Pluspora an MeWe as well. I guess it’ll finally depend on where the Blurs and Street community go.

  3. very badly here, been here since the beginning…went to pluspora not so bad, lots of people are migrating there. I do fb but for games and relatives but I connected with others there too.

  4. Nora Qudus … I feel you. I was one of the early adopters too and it’s such a let down. I’m on pluspora as well. I think the final decision will be based on where the Blur and Street photography community setup. The G+ Mentorship Program for Photographers has been everything to me!

Thanks again for sharing your views. See you on pluspora.

  5. Garry Knight … thanks a ton. I’ve signed every petition I’ve come across. I think we should be doing something more. I still haven’t figured it out… but something on the lines of every plusser posting the same image and getting flagged on their SEO and other tools. Getting the media and humans involved.

Plan B is pluspora… I’m already on it.

Thanks for sharing your opinion 🙂 cheers!

  6. Hi Lucille,

I wish I thought that contacting G+ would matter. I don’t. This has been

in the works for some time. Besides, G+ (I read this somewhere to take it

with a grain of salt) mis-handled some of our information. Rather than

rectify the problem, it’s closing down. We’re not exactly a profit center,

so what would Google’s motivation be to keep us. I’m playing with

Pluspora.com, simply because so many others are. I see it as a stop gap

only. But it’s good to see so many people taking steps to stay connected!

  7. Attention: Before migrating to another plattform, don’t forget to save your content! More information can be found here: https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-download-your-data-with-google-takeout-2011-7?IR=T

There already exists a community called Google+ Mass Migration which publishes the latest information on the further development of this topic. At the same time, this community provides a forum to discuss possible alternatives together, should Google really decide to switch off Google+. Say, where could each one of us migrate her/his content developed over the years?

If you also want to join, here is the Google+ page of Google+ Mass Migration
