Hi Serge

Hi Serge,

Firstly, thank you so much for your fantastic podcasts. I’ve learned more from  viewing 5-6 of your podcasts than I have from any tutorials for the last year.

I was listening to podcast 13 today and you mentioned that because you use a French Keyboard, you cannot use the \ key for a before/after. I’m not sure if you solved this already, but since I use a Spanish Keyboard and faced the same problem, I would like to share the solution I found with you. Consider this a Thank you for all the amazing stuff I learned from you in the past weeks… (I do plan on buying your tutorials in Jan when I have more time to practice)

This solution is based on tips from Adobe Forums and : http://members.lightroomqueen.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/1157/198/some-of-the-shortcuts-dont-work-with-my-language-version-or-non-english-keyboardcan-i-fix-it

1) Create a file called : TranslatedStrings.txt (use TextEdit or any other text file editor, but not Word or any other Rich Text Document Editing Software).

2) Add the following line to the text file, change the “Shift+s” to whatever you would like the shortcut key to be. Avoid any special keys that use the ALT key:

“$$$/AgDevelop/Menu/View/BeforeAfter/Before/Key=Shift+s”

3) Copy this file in the folder en.lproj. To navigate to this folder do the following:

Open Finder

— Navigate to Applications

— Right click on Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.app and select the option “Show Package Contents”

— Open Folder “Contents”

— Open Folder “Resources”

— Open Folder “en.lrproj”

Paste the file “TranslatedStrings.txt” into this folder.

Note: If you already have a TranslatedStrings.txt file in this location, open it and verify the shortcut that is assigned. Take a backup of the file before you modify it.

Close Lightroom and reopen the app. Navigate to the Develop module and test the shortcut that you just created.

Hope this helps… if you have any queries, drop me a line or start a hangout 🙂

Thanks again for all you’ve done for my photography!

warm regards,

Lucille
